Hi,I wanted to share a little update on Lyra — she’s doing absolutely beautifully. She’s settled into the sweetest life as a pasture horse. To be honest, I haven’t been able to work with her at all since I welcomed my baby, Ashley, in January. But you know what? She’s been working in the most important way possible.Every single evening I take Ashley out to visit Lyra and Misty, our other horse. And what happens next melts my heart every time. Ashley toddles right up, reaches her little hand out, and gently rubs Lyra’s face, all wide-eyed with “ohs” and “ahhs” of pure wonder. And Lyra? She just stands there like the most patient, gentle saint — letting my baby girl even grab her mane and tug her hair! No fuss, no flinch, just quiet love and tolerance.It’s really neat to watch, and I love it more than words can say. Lyra has become so much more than a horse to us. She’s family. We got home with Lancelot safe and sound, and I’m so relieved and excited! He spent his first night in the corral making polite introductions with all our other horses across the fence — no drama, just calm curiosity. And it’s a good thing his name is Lancelot, because he’s proving to be every bit the noble knight. Next up on his royal duties: coming out to officially meet my dad’s horse, Gwaine. I have a feeling they’ll get along just fine.Lancelot is truly a joy — fun, responsive, and so easy to ride. He made me feel confident right away. The biggest compliment? My mom even got on him. She’s usually very cautious with new horses and rarely rides anything she doesn’t know, but with Lancelot she didn’t hesitate.
